The Jewish Roots in Győr Charitable Foundation’s activities among the youth of Győr
In our Articles of Association, the purpose of our organisation is defined as follows:
Cultivate and promote Jewish culture, explore the Jewish past and present in Győr and its surroundings, organising cultural events and conferences.
Present the role of the former Jewish population in Győr and the surrounding settlements and make widely known the relevant data showing their significant activities in industry, other sectors of the economy, social and cultural development, architecture, health, social assistance, etc.
Strengthen Jewish identity. Build a community, reinforce solidarity between people living in Hungary and abroad and between generations.
Fight against anti-Semitism, educate the population of Győr, especially young people, about the fate of the Jewish citizens of the city, their gradual disenfranchisement and the tragic events of 1944.

In this spirit, in 2023-24, we organised a contest for secondary school students on the Jewish memories of Győr and its surroundings entitled “Their fate – our history”. (Student Contest ’24)
